Safeway is owned and funded by Singapore based Macquarie Asia Infrastructure Fund 2, that won the first Toll-Operate-Transfer (TOT) project in India granted by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in 2018, for a concession period of 30 years. Safeway comprises of 9 SPVs, which cumulatively manage 681+ kms of National Highway projects across NH 16 and NH 216A (part of the Golden Quadrilateral Project) in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and NH 27 in Gujarat.

With the TOT-1 project, we have embarked upon a journey to bring O&M expertise, financial investment, and necessary technology to upgrade the highway network, with a focus on safety of road users and workers. We are a values-based organization, committed to our core values of integrity, accountability, care and wellbeing. We also believe that it is our responsibility to drive sustainability in our core operations as well as the larger ecosystem that we operate in.
The TOT-1 bundle is strategic to India`s economic growth, providing connectivity to important industrial hubs, agricultural belts, ports and centers of culture and tourism. Our projects in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha cover sections of NH 216A and NH 16, which are part of the Golden Quadrilateral Project of the NHAI. The Highway stretch passes through the rice bowl of India in East Godavari and West Godavari districts and provides connectivity to Kakinada and Vishakhapatnam ports. In Gujarat, the NH27 part of the East-west caters to the ceramic industrial cluster in the Kutch area and provides connectivity to Porbandar, Kandla and Mundra ports.
